Situation

Icecat provides product information management for enterprise brands — over 100,000 customers use the platform to enrich, manage, and syndicate product data to channels like Amazon, eBay, and their own storefronts. The Hexagon back-office handles catalog grids, transformation set property mapping, and the data workflows operations teams run daily. While maintaining the legacy application, the team was also building a new back-office version from scratch.

Task

As a full-stack developer in a Scrum team, I maintained production features on the existing app while contributing to the new back-office — frontend architecture, catalog interfaces, transformation workflows, backend APIs, and technical documentation.

Action
  • Defined MUI-based frontend architecture and UI styling standards for the new Hexagon back-office.
  • Built the product catalog interface with filters and grid management for large product datasets.
  • Implemented transformation set property tables for mapping enterprise product data fields.
  • Developed backend services, APIs, and database-driven features supporting business workflows.
  • Improved API performance and integration reliability between frontend and backend layers.
  • Wrote project documentation to clarify implementation decisions for the wider team.
  • Balanced bug fixes and feature work across the legacy app and the new rewrite in parallel.
Result

Enterprise operations teams could manage and syndicate product data through clearer catalog and transformation workflows. The new back-office started on a structured MUI foundation the team could extend, and API reliability improved during the period when both legacy and rewrite codebases were active.
